Music Play
Music Play is designed to provide you with fun, meaningful, musical activities to bring to your setting. Support your children’s pre-maths, pre-literacy, motor skills and more, while providing them with a love of music for life. Expect to singing, moving, puppets and percussion in this very practical session, led by an experienced practitioner. Music is for everyone!
Course Content
- Speech development
- General education through song (colours, numbers, letters, animals etc)
- Motor skill development, both fine (playing instruments, handling materials) and gross (movement, clapping games, action songs)
- Memory skills (remembering melody, words)

- Relaxation for children, using songs to calm the group or create an atmosphere

- Making the most of your percussion pack for beat keeping and creative activities

- Supporting teachers' musical skills

Tutor
Helen Blackmore has worked with young children for over twenty years. She teaches Early Years Music to children from 3-7 years at TU Dublin Conservatoire and lectures on the Early Childhood Education in Marino Institute of Education. Helen delivers on-line training for music teachers across the world through the British Kodály Academy and the National Youth Choir of Scotland. Helen is also experienced in working with babies, toddlers and children with additional needs. She works with Dublin City Council and the National Concert Hall of Ireland. During the first COVID-19 lockdown, Helen created a series of popular videos for the NCH aimed and young children and their grown-ups.
