Maths and Literacy Outdoors: Learning Through Play and Exploration

This webinar explores the rich potential of outdoor learning in fostering both mathematical and literacy skills in young children. Inspired by new and sensory experiences, it provides practical strategies for incorporating play-based learning into outdoor environments across all seasons.
Through engaging activities, we will examine how messy play can serve as a foundation for mathematical development, offering children hands-on opportunities to explore numbers, patterns, and problem-solving in a meaningful way. Additionally, we will highlight the power of outdoor language play, demonstrating how sensory-rich experiences can enhance communication skills and support early literacy development.
The role of the adult in guiding and embracing the social and emotional aspects of outdoor learning will also be discussed, ensuring that all children have a voice in their learning journey.
