Engaging Parents Through the Power of Music
In this training session Tasha Bretten will focus on the potential for music to provide a great vehicle for parent engagement. An overview of neuroscience evidence and research studies that back up the key role that regular effective music practice can play in children’s development is presented in a way that parents will understand, so that you can share with your parents. The evidence suggests the earlier we start regular music practice with our children the better, so we are focusing on working with the parents of under 2’s in this workshop. Boogie Mites have been leading parent education courses for 15 years in the UK under local authority funded family learning contracts. We will share our knowledge of how to lead a parent workshop, how to encourage parents to practice at home with their children, including how to enliven stories with music. We will give you tips for informing parents of the value that music in early years provides for potential support to development, as well as the family bonding and fun memories made. We will also cover 3 Boogie Mites songs from our Boogie Mites Teenies (under 2’s) Music Programme so that you can trial them with the children in your care and invite parents of under 2’s to join a music session at the nursery to experience and learn about the fun and educational benefits.
You will be given a link to register for access to these song resources within the course information when you book. You will also be given a 20% discount code to purchase the full Boogie Mites Teenies Music Programme digital package of 22 songs once you have trialled the 3 songs covered in this training.
