Boosting Mood and Mental Health Through Music
At Boogie Mites we have followed the neuroscience evidence to develop a range of programmes that harness the power of music for supporting development throughout early years. With more than 10 years-experience of delivering these programmes and compiling resources that provide early years practitioners with the confidence, knowledge and resources to harness the power of music, we have helped thousands of UK settings to embed creative music making. We are very excited to introduce Boogie Mites to practitioners in Ireland.
The last 18 months of lockdowns and social distancing have had a huge impact on social development and wellbeing of everyone, and for our under 3’s it has impacted more than half of their life so far. At Boogie Mites we believe that music in early years can play a vital role to close the gap in these areas.
In this training session Liv Mclennan will focus on the potential for effective music practice to boost mood and mental health for under 3’s. An overview of neuroscience evidence and research studies that back up the key role that music can play in developing relationship bonds, emotional wellbeing, pro-social behaviour, uplifting everyone’s mood, motivation and movement – including the practitioners and parents taking part. She will also touch on the associated benefits for communication and physical skills, how to format a music session and incorporate music throughout the day. This will be followed by an interactive session when you will be invited to join in and learn 3 Boogie Mites songs from our under 3’s programmes so that you can trial them with your children to experience the mood boost for yourself!
