Throughout this course you will gain an understanding of what language to use, what questions you should ask to gain a greater understanding of concerns at home and how to approach a parent about gaining AIM’s supports.
Course Content
- How to discuss a child who may be finding it difficult to settle into a service.
- How to approach parents about gaining AIM’s supports.
- Meeting with parents to get a greater understanding of concerns they may have at home.
- How to use positive language and collaborate with parents in a positive manner to best support the child in your setting.
- Ideas on external supports for the parents and who you can contact in your area for further information.
- Discussing any concerns you may have in relation to your service.

Ciara started work in mainstream preschools before going to study a B.A in Psychology. Leading on to work as a specialized teacher and then progressing to work as programme coordinator and staff trainer in a specialized preschool for autistic children. She is also the founder of Autism Supports, helping families and professionals implement supports for autistic children in their setting. She is also the mother of an autistic teenager which gives her the understanding of the difficulties which parents face at home.
Ciara is currently studying her Masters in Autism research and is an advocate for neurodiversity.

This certified course will give you an understanding of how to approach parents in a positive manner with concerns you may have about a child. This will begin from settling a child into your setting, right through to ongoing concerns about a child.
