In this webinar Gillian Powell M.ED., (early years professional and author of Thrive - Autumn Outdoor Nature Activities for children and families) will support a Nature pedagogy in your setting. She shares ideas for outdoor play in a variety of early years settings. Included will be exemplar Aistear themes and sample learning stories.

Course Content
Included will be exemplar Aistear themes and sample learning stories:
- Well Being – Explore practical and sustainable ways to develop sensory and physical play in any outdoor space. Include families to help collect and gather loose parts, such as leaves, sticks and shells.
- Exploring and Thinking – Practical examples to enhance exploring and thinking opportunities.
- Communicating – Encouraging children to find their voices, encouraging communication outdoors. Build an outdoor play path to literacy and numeracy.
- Identity and Belonging – Practical ways to develop children`s sense of their place in the natural world in your setting, whatever the facilities.

Gillian Powell is a part time lecturer in Applied Professional Practice and Pedagogical Framing on a Bachelor in Applied Early Years Education course delivered in the Cork College of Commerce by the Dundalk Institute of Technology. She owned and managed The Haven Montessori School in Bandon for thirty-two years. This early years setting catered for over fifty children and the emphasis was on outdoor education. Outdoor education in three early years settings in Ireland was the focus of Gillian's research during the course of a Masters in Education in University College Cork.
