Canavan Byrne is registered by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) to deliver First Aid Responder (FAR) and First Aid Responder Refresher training.
As a registered provider and under Tulsa’s Regulation 25: First Aid, you must ensure that the service has enough staff appropriately trained in first aid for children and are available in case of any injury or sudden illness. The number of staff with this training will depend on the number and needs of children attending the service and is based on the service’s risk assessments, including the size of the service and the hazards identified.
A least one person trained as First Aid Responder (FAR) must be available to the children while the service is in operation, and this must be clearly outlined on your staff roster. At least one person trained in FAR must be available to the children when on outings. A list of people trained in FAR with an in-date certificate must be available and accessible in the service. To ensure best practice, each service should have a minimum of two staff members FAR trained with in-date certificates on file. This ensures that during times of staff holidays or staff illness, another FAR trained staff member will be present. It is recommended that larger services would have more than two staff FAR trained.
Our FAR training is a blended course which consists of two days of online training and one day of classroom training. Upon successful competition of the course, participants will receive a PHECC certificate valid for 2 years. The FAR refresher training is also a blended learning program with one day of online and one day of classroom training. The refresher training must be completed within three months prior to the expiration of the current certificate. Upon successful competition of the course, participants will receive a PHECC certificate valid for 2 years. We can also tailor the format to suit your requirements.
