Today’s tip is to highlight the importance of three key employment policies. Many services do not realise that these 3 key policies are a requirement under the employment legislation.

These policies can be tailored to suit your service which are designed by Canavan byrne & Associates.

Disciplinary policy

The disciplinary policy is designed to help and encourage all employees to achieve and maintain high standards of conduct, job performance and capability. The disciplinary procedure aims to help fairly address performance or conduct that may fall below service requirements to achieve the necessary improvement or outcome. Formal procedures are vital to ensure that consistency and balance are achieved when disciplinary action is taken.

Grievance policy

The purpose of the grievance procedure is to ensure that employees of the Service have a fair forum in which to express any problems or concerns they may have and to have them resolved quickly and satisfactorily. The overall intention is to ensure that minor matters do not develop into major disputes

Prevention of workplace bullying, Harassment & Sexual Harassment at work

The Service is committed to implementing and promoting measures to protect the dignity of those that work within the Service, and to encourage respect for others at work. This is achieved by creating a work environment that is free from bullying, harassment and sexual harassment, racism and disrespectful behaviour, by dealing effectively with any complaints of such conduct, and also by welcoming diversity and promoting employment equality.
